II.      Basis for Council Action.
 
Council approval of this item is required because;
  1. 21-A M.R.S.A. §501 (2) requires the municipal officers to approve the town clerk's appointments of warden and deputy warden, and
  2. Pursuant to Article II, Section 1 of the Charter "[t]he Town Council, hereinafter called the 'Council', shall be and constitute the municipal officers of the Town."
