To set the dates on which 2022-2023 taxes will be due as October 3, 2022 and April 3, 2023.

II.                     Basis for Council Action.

Council approval of this item is required because;

a.                     Title 36 M.R.S.A. §505(2) states that "a municipality may, with respect to the tax, by vote determine... [t]he date or dates when property taxes shall become due and payable," and

b.                     Pursuant to Article II, Section 3(I) of the Charter the Town Council has the authority to “[e]xercise all the legislative, financial, borrowing and other powers now or hereafter given by statute to inhabitants of towns acting in Town Meeting.”

III.                     Issue Summary.

The 1^st of October this year and 1^st of April next year both fall on a Saturday, so taxes will be due the next business day.
