I.                     Council Action Requested.

Title

To authorize the disbursement of up to $34,000 from the Federal Opioid Distribution Fund (1000-4008) for the purchase of medication vaults for Central and North Stations, each ambulance and tracking software to safeguard controlled substances and medications we must now purchase in response to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) draft rule change and Maine Health’s cessation of providing the town with these needed medicines.

II.                     Basis for Council Action.

 

Council approval of this item is required because;

 

a.                     The Town Council has the authority under Article II, Section 3 (I) of the Charter to [e]xercise all the legislative, financial, borrowing, and other powers now or hereafter given by statute to inhabitants of town acting in Town Meeting except as otherwise provided herein.

 

III.                     Issue Summary.

 

Please see the attached materials provided by Chief Libby and the Substance Prevention Grant Committees meeting minutes of June 2, 2026.

 

*The fund balance is currently $34,234.46.
