Title
To enter into executive session in accordance with Title 1 M.R.S.A. ยง405(6)(A) for "discussion or consideration of the employment, appointment, assignment, duties, promotion, demotion, compensation, evaluation, disciplining, resignation or dismissal of an individual or group of public officials, appointees or employees of the body or agency" to discuss the assessor's and town clerk's salaries and other compensation.

II.      Basis for Council Action.
 
Council approval of this item is required because;
  1. The proposed article contemplates "discussion or consideration of the employment, appointment, assignment, duties, promotion, demotion, compensation, evaluation, disciplining, resignation or dismissal of an individual or group of public officials, appointees or employees of the body or agency" for the purpose of conducting the assessor's performance evaluation, and
  2. The Town Council is the legislative body of the Town pursuant to Article II, Section 3(I) of the Charter.
 
III.      Issue Summary.
 
Action on the assessor's and town clerk's compensation, as with others, will be taken in public session; the purpose of the executive session is to allow the opportunity to discuss any aspects of the performance evaluation and compensation considerations that might otherwise reasonably be expected to be private.
 
By state law, entering into executive session requires a 3/5 vote of members present and voting.
