To set the dates on which 2016-2017 taxes will be due as October 3, 2016 and April 3, 2017.

II. Basis for Council Action.
Council approval of this item is required because;
a) Title 36 M.R.S.A. ?505(2) states that "a municipality may, with respect to the tax, by vote determine... [t]he date or dates when property taxes shall become due and payable," and
b) Pursuant to Article II, Section 3(I) of the Charter the Town Council has the authority to "[e]xercise all the legislative, financial, borrowing and other powers now or hereafter given by statute to inhabitants of towns acting in Town Meeting."
III. Issue Summary.
October 1, 2016 and April 1, 2017 are Saturdays. Due dates are usually set on the first day of October and April, but are set here for the next available business day.
