To refer the Town Manager's proposed budget for fiscal year 2017-2018 to the town Council's Finance Committee for review and recommendation(s).

II. Basis for Council Action.

Council approval of this item is required because;

1. Pursuant to Article V, Section 2 of the Charter "the Town Manager, not less than ninety (90) days prior to the beginning of the new fiscal year, shall submit to the Council a budget," and
2. Pursuant to Section 27, Paragraph 3 of the Council Rules the "Finance Committee shall have the duty to meet with the Town Manager to review the manager's recommended annual budget, and to make recommendations thereon to the Town Council."

III. Issue Summary.

The Council's Finance Committee will review the budget through the rest of April and is expected to make its recommendation to the full Council in early May.

The Council then will hold at least one budget public hearing before voting on the budget by the end of May for action by the budgetary town meeting in June.
