21st Century Downtown zoning amendments, short-term and long-term.

As a follow up to the Council’s discussions in April (CD 17-071 on April 4, 2017 and CD 17-113 on April 18, 2017) regarding the 21st Century Downtown plan and draft character-based code amendments, the planning director and town manager have outlined a series of options. These options are intended to keep the town moving toward realization of the 21st Century Downtown plan’s vision to varying degrees and with varying levels of commitment to character-based (also known as “form-based”) codes. The purpose of the discussion is to gauge the Council’s interest and commitment, and preferred approach to ordinance changes based on the plan.
