To grant a Blanket Letter of Approval to the Lake Region Eagles #4352 for its application for licenses to conduct games of chance (Tournaments & Cards) at the Lakes Region Eagles #4352 for the period of February 1, 2019 through January 31, 2020.

II. Basis for Council Action.
Council approval of this item is required because;
a) 17 M.R.S.A. ? 333 requires the application for a license to operate a game of chance to bear the consent of the municipal officers of the community in which the game of chance is to be operated, and
b) Pursuant to Article II, Section 1, of the Charter "[t]he Town Council, hereinafter called the 'Council', shall be and constitute the municipal officers of the Town."
III. Issue Summary.
Please refer to the attached blanket letter of approval and application.
Mr. Dyer, President of the Club asked me to let you know that there have been some changes made in Augusta regarding the Games of Chance and their licenses. Their letter to the Council (attached) also lists Sealed Tickets, Dice, Pot of Gold, Queen of Hearts, and Wheel. The Club still must pay a fee to the state to play these games and register with the State, but these games no longer require Council approval. That is why there are only two applications this year, one for Tournaments and one for Cards (Poker) that need be signed by Council.
